After many years as a civil litigator, Mr. Vogel turned to service as a mediator of civil disputes. He is a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 civil mediator and a member of the mediation panel for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee. He has mediated over 1500 civil disputes and is board certified by the American Academy of ADR Attorneys. He is a Fellow in the International Academy of Mediators and member of its Board of Governors.

He is a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission of the Tennessee Supreme Court (2002-2010). He is a frequent lecturer on the subjects of ethics in mediation and mediation techniques.

Tennessee Business magazine named him one of the 101 Best Lawyers in Tennessee in January of 2004 and January of 2005, and one of the 150 Best Lawyers in Tennessee in January of 2006.
