Justice Wiener has been engaged in private dispute resolution since January 1994, serving in more than 3000 cases as a mediator, arbitrator and private judge. His assignments have included business disputes, intellectual property, professional liability, insurance coverage including bad faith litigation, product liability, environmental cases and class action suits including securities fraud litigation.

Justice Wiener's nineteen years of general law practice was primarily devoted to business litigation. He was president of the Pomona Valley Bar Association, Trustee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and a member and Vice-President of the Board of Governors of the California State Bar. He was also a member of the Executive Board and Vice President of the California Judges Association. During the year 1977-1978, Justice Wiener taught alternative dispute resolution at Claremont Graduate School. He has also been an adjunct professor at the University of San Diego Law School (1979-1986) and California Western School of Law (1986-1994) teaching professional responsibility and appellate advocacy respectively. He is a member of the Advisory Board of California Western's Center for Creative Problem Solving. Justice Wiener has served on the Executive Board of the State Bar Court and the Board of Overseers of the University of California, San Diego. He is also a charter member and Honorary Master of the Louis M. Welsh Inn of court and organizing President and Master of the William B. Enright American Inn of Court. He is a Fellow of the American College of Civil Trial Mediators and a member of the California Academy of Appellate Lawyers. He is also on the Board of Trustees of California Western School of Law. |
