Mr. Newman received his undergraduate degree from Bradley University, B. A. in 1965 with honors and received his law degree from the University of Illinois, J. D. in 1968 where he was inducted into the national honorary society, Order of the Coif. He then served as a Lieutenant in the Judge Advocate General's Corps of the United States Navy from 1968 to 1972. From 1972 until 2000, he was engaged in the practice of civil litigation in Florida and was associated with MacFarlane, Ferguson Allison & Kelly and Shear, Newman, Hahn & Rosenkranz, P. A.

From 2000 to March 2010, he has devoted his professional life to alternate dispute resolution and was during that period associated with Adams & Diaco, P. A.
