ALLEN S. BLAIR concentrates his practice in the areas of mediation and arbitration as a neutral. He has extensive experience in employment law, labor law, employee benefits law, municipal law and bankruptcy. He is now a full-time neutral. In his work as a mediator and arbitrator he has worked to resolve disputes in many legal areas and his practice as a neutral continues to be diverse. Mr. Blair is approved to serve as a mediator in the state and federal courts and for many years taught Alternative Dispute Resolution and Negotiation at the University Of Memphis Law School. He is a mediator and arbitrator on the Commercial Panel and the Employment Panel of the American Arbitration Association. Mr. Blair has also served as a member of the Tennessee ADR Commission, a group of lawyers appointed by the Tennessee Supreme Court to assist the Court in the administration of the ADR program in the State's Courts from 2006 to 2014.

Mr. Blair graduated from Vanderbilt Law School. He then served as Law Clerk to Bailey Brown, then Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court in Memphis. He had a litigation practice in which he represented plaintiffs and defendants. Mr. Blair successfully argued a leading affirmative action case, Firefighters Local Union No. 1784 v. Stotts, 467 U.S. 561 (1984), before the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Blair has been a frequent speaker at numerous seminars, including mediation programs sponsored by several different organizations and arbitration seminars sponsored by the American Arbitration Association. He served as Chairman of the Litigation Section of the Tennessee Bar Association from 1997-1998 and Chairman of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the Tennessee Bar Association from 2002-2003. Mr. Blair has published works entitled "Affirmative Action After Stotts," 21 Georgia Law Review 1141, Summer, 1987 and "Ethical Dilemmas in Mediation" 31 University of Memphis Law Review 59, 2000. Mr. Blair has been included in The Best Lawyers for 2009 in the specialties of Alternative Dispute Resolution and Labor and Employment Law - he has received this honor every year for 25 years.Education/Training
