From 1995 to 2001, Chris mediated on and off, but, since January 2002, Chris has limited his practice to service as a neutral dispute resolution professional. Between service as a mediator, arbitrator, hearing officer, and federal-sector EEO complaint adjudicator, Chris has resolved – or, in the case of mediation, helped the parties resolve – more than 3800 matters.
Chris Shulman is a Florida Certified Circuit-Court and County-Court Mediator (#8542CR). A Diplomate and 2005-2006 Board Member of the Florida Academy of Professional Mediators, Chris Shulman serves on the panels of neutrals for several organizations, including the American Arbitration Association (Commercial/Employment, Labor, Customer Account Panel (CAP) and Large & Complex Case Panels); the Federal Mediation & Conciliation Service Labor Arbitrator Panel, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida; the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission; NASD/FINRA Dispute Resolution (Public Arbitrator/Panel Chair) and the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. He is a certified Florida Circuit and County Court Mediator, a Florida Court-Appointed Arbitrator, a Florida Hurricane Mediation Mediator, a Florida Mortgage Foreclosure Mediator, and a Primary Circuit and County Mediator Trainer. A member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association ADR Committee (he was co-Chair from 2004-2006), Chris is also a member of the Florida Circuit Civil Mediator Society, and a charter member (and 2010-2011 Board Member) of the National Association of Distinguished Neutrals. From 2000 – 2008, Chris served on the Florida Supreme Court Mediator Ethics Advisory Committee and, as of July 1, 2011, is a member of the Florida Supreme Court’s ADR Rules and Policy Committee.
After graduating cum laude from Stetson University College of Law in 1991, Chris Shulman initially practiced as an attorney for almost 10 years, representing individuals, labor unions, and employers in connection with a variety of statutory, contractual, and common-law employment law claims. He also handled general practice, business disputes, and personal injury matters for clients.
