Mr. Morris has served as a lead arbitrator and mediator for U.S. Arbitration and Mediation, Inc.,Empire Arbitrtion and Mediation, Inc., and American Arbitration Association as well as private ADR organizations. He has served as a Special Mediator for the U.S. District Court, New York State Supreme Court, and the Monroe County Bar Association. He has been selected by counsel throughout the Northeast privately to bring many major disputes involving multiple parties to a successful conclusion in the past 15 years. He has mediated commercial and tort claims as well as business disputes, many of which were in excess of a million dollars and recently as well, has succesfully mediated construction claim contract disputes involving multiple parties.

Background

James Morris, a gradute of Syracuse University and its College of Law, has been a practicing attorney for more than 30 years. From 1972 – 2005 he has served as Brighton Town Justice and an Acting City Court Judge for the City of Rochester, New York. He is a member of the firm of Morris and Morris where a substantial part of his practice has involved a wide variety of personal injury cases, several of which have resulted in recoveries of one million dollars or more.

Judge Morris has served as Director of Education and Training for the New York State Magistrates Association and is a Senior Faculty Member for the State of New York, Office of Court Administration.

He has been a guest lecturer for many organizations including Syracuse University, Newhouse School of Communications and George Washington University Law Center. Consistently since 2005, he has been recognized in the publication Best Lawyers of America, as a specialty in alternate dispute resolution. Currently, Morris is the chair of the Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee of the Torts, Insurance and Compensation Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.
