Background

Mark Travis represented public and private sector organizations in employment litigation and labor relations disputes for 25 years before becoming a full-time neutral. He received his law degree from the University of Louisville and holds a Master of Laws in Dispute Resolution from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at the Pepperdine University School of Law, where he also teaches labor employment dispute resolution.

After leaving the active practice of law in 2008, Mark served as Director of the Tennessee Labor-Management Center through which he provided a variety of education, training and services in workplace dispute resolution. Mark’s ADR practice is concentrated exclusively as a mediator and arbitrator in all areas of employment law and labor relations.

Mark is a member of the National Academy of Arbitrators and currently serves on panels for the American Arbitration Association, the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the National Mediation Board. He holds an advanced certificate in Workplace ADR from the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations. Mark is a member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, is listed on the Employment Panel of CPR’s Panel of Distinguished Neutrals, and is a certified mediator with the International Mediation Institute. In 2013, Mark was elected as a Distinguished Fellow in the International Academy of Mediators, and is “AV” rated by Martindale Hubbell.
