About

Matt has been a mediator and arbitrator for nearly 20 years. He draws upon his 35 years as a commercial litigator and construction lawyer and 30 years as a Naval Officer to assist in resolving many kinds of disputes. Matt has mediated and arbitrated various types of commercial, construction, intellectual property, and employment cases and has served as an advocate and a neutral in ADR processes on claims ranging from a few thousand dollars to hundreds of millions. He is a Certified Mediator for the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and a panelist for the Dauphin County Bar Association Mediation Program.

Matt has an active law practice with Saxton & Stump LLC (www.saxtonstump.com/our-people/matthew-chabal/) and is an experienced construction and commercial litigation attorney. Recently, he was a partner at a law firm in Hershey, PA and earlier in his career was a partner at Duane Morris LLP, one of the largest law firms in the country. After receiving his J.D., he served as a law clerk to the Hon. William W. Caldwell in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Matt has written and lectured on construction law, arbitration, and mediation and serves on various related committees.

A former Navy pilot, Matt retired from the Navy Reserve in 2007 with the rank of Captain (O-6).
