Background

Gino Brogdon has had a charmed experience as a trial lawyer which has spanned over a quarter century. After a clerkship with an Attorney profile picture appellate judge in Indianapolis, Gino moved to Atlanta to join Drew Eckl & Farnham where he began cutting his legal teeth on defending a variety of cases. Auto liability, commercial liability, trucking cases, wrongful death, civil rights, premises liability, coverage issues and property and casualty issues filled his schedule and took Gino to most of the counties in Georgia. Gino then joined a small litigation boutique, Arrington & Hollowell, where he tried general liability cases for both sides in multiple courts at multiple levels.

Eventually Gino was recruited to join the medical malpractice defense team at Alston & Bird, LLP, one of the nation’s foremost malpractice trial firms. This experience placed Gino on his feet in trials involving medical malpractice and product liability claims, medical device suits, complex business disputes and other matters. Thereafter, Gino joined the plaintiff’s bar and began a solo practice with a focus on serious personal injury and wrongful death cases. Perhaps the most challenging yet profound case of Gino’s career was one involving pedophilic Satanic Ritual Abuse of young children by a celebrated local police officer. This hard-fought and complex case involved very complex insurance and ;vernmental liability issues as well as ever-looming questions of public trust, institutional complicity and ;vernment corruption.

In 1996, at the ripe young age of 34, Gino was appointed to the State Court bench of Fulton county by then ;vernor Zell Miller. Gino presided for nearly seven years over a wide variety of cases including medical/legal malpractice, business disputes, personal injury, nursing homes, multi-million dollar product liability cases and, most notably, the mass of suits arising out of the 1996 ValuJet airline crash in the Florida Everglades. ;vernor Roy Barnes elevated Gino to the Superior Court of Fulton county where he served for nearly four years. Mostly a criminal docket, Gino’ calendar was host to cases involving murder, rape, child molestation, aggravated assault, fraud and drug offenses. The civil docket often mirrored the state court case load. Gino also sat with special designation in one case on the Georgia Supreme Court.

Gino stepped down from the bench in December 2005 and rejoined Alston & Bird as a partner in their litigation section and handled large civil cases around the country. After a brief stint as the head of a small boutique litigation firm, Gino joined Pope McGlamry where he handled wrongful death cases, serious personal injury cases and mass tort litigation involving Deputy hip implants. Gino has remained instrumental as co-counsel with Pope McGlamry in representing the ex-NFL players against the league for mismanagement of medical treatment following concussions and other head injuries suffered by the players.

These days Gino handles a select number of cases on behalf of individuals and families suffering wrongful death, serious personal injury, nursing home negligence, child care negligence and related issues. Gino has tried many cases in many jurisdictions from Philadelphia, PA to Opelika, Alabama and remains a formidable trial lawyer for those needing a voice in the courtroom.
